The Embassy of Denmark in Portugal is hiring a new colleague to work strategically and focused on commercial cases and public affairs for Danish companies and organisations within the energy sector and the green transition. You will be supporting their interests and the Danish Government’s key priorities and develop the market and network to key decision makers in Portugal. You will join the Embassy’s commercial team and work closely with our colleagues at the Embassy and in cross-regional projects with our colleagues in the energy sector in the Southern European region – Paris, Madrid, Rome and Athens.
We imagine that you have good business insights and a passion for business development, governmental public affairs, customer relations / stakeholder management and market analysis. You are a team player who enjoys sparring and working with others as well as driving initiatives independently. You can advise Danish companies on business matters, create the ideal platforms for seizing opportunities and create value for our clients. As an energy advisor you will report to the Head of Economic Affairs & Trade.
The energy advisor will join an ambitious team focusing on creating value for Danish companies and working within the priorities of the Danish Government Strategy for Economic Diplomacy. There has been a significant rise in demand for our services in Lisbon, especially within the energy and green transition sectors. Prior experience in public affairs and business development is required and knowledge about the Portuguese and/or Danish energy sector will be a significant advantage. We are a small team and value flexibility as well as readiness to solving tasks outside your main areas of responsibilities as well as supporting other colleagues’ files.
Required qualifications:
- Preferably 5+ years experience from an international company, consultancy work, government related institution or similar.
- A business or academic degree in economics, political science, trade or other relevant combination.
- Experience from the green sector/energy area with public affairs consultancy/commercial work for companies/organisations (EU, Portugal or other markets) will be a requirement.
- Knowledge of the Danish Trade Council and sector experience from Denmark will be an advantage.
- A positive, open-minded, pro-active, results-oriented and energetic attitude to handling of assignments.
- A structured mindset, good project planning, coordination and communication skills, including digital and online awareness.
- Excellent command of English (oral and written) is essential – Portuguese is a significant plus.
- Comprehensive command of Danish (oral and written) is a strong asset.
- Great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with commercial clients and public contacts.

Employment conditions:
This is a position offered for local recruitment according to compensation levels reflecting local conditions. Depending of the seniority of the candidate, the position will be nominated as energy advisor or senior energy advisor. The salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results. The position is a full-time employment (40 hours a week) offered for a fixed term of 24 months with the possibility of extension. There are KPI’s connected to the position.
Starting date: 1 December 2024 or soon thereafter.
