We are looking for a talented and passionate chef to join the team of the Danish Ambassador in Portugal. As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality lunches and dinners for the guests in the residence of the Danish Ambassador. The Ambassador is weekly hosting events such as breakfasts, lunches, dinners and standing receptions. In addition to this, the Embassy organises bigger events and conferences.

As the Ambassadors Chef, you will be responsible for planning the menu, do the shopping and cook for our guests.

Type of employment: 20 hours a week, 1 year contract with the possibility of extension

Starting date: 1st of January 2025 or soon thereafter

Location: The Danish Ambassador’s residence in Portugal

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing, cooking, and service for events at the Residence
  • Planning of menus and shopping of groceries and other household stocks for the kitchen
  • Coordination with the Ambassador’s PA and events’ managers for events
  • Preparation of simple, balanced meals for Residence as needed
  • Ensuring that food handling and storage comply with high sanitary and safety standards
  • Maintaining bookkeeping and budgets of the provision of food and beverages in cooperation with Embassy
  • Responsible for maintaining the kitchen at high sanitary standards in close cooperation with Residence Housekeeper
  • Arranging additional assistance from i.e. waiters for bigger events

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef, with a strong track record in high-end restaurants or hotels
  • Excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and cuisines
  • A creative approach to menu design with a focus on seasonal products
  • Experienced at setting up and executing a variety of official events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

 

Employment conditions

  • We offer a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension, the contract will be in accordance with the Portuguese special regime for housekeeping.
  • Your standard working hours will be 20 hours per week. The working time will vary according the needs of the season, and occasionally overtime should be expected.
  • Your salary will reflect your responsibility, tasks and previous experience
