The Danish Embassy in Lisbon is seeking an assistant to the Nordic Liaison Officer for Police and Customs (Part-time). You will be employed at the Danish Embassy in Lisbon with the aim of supporting the Nordic Liaison Officer in building strong relationships with the police, customs, and the public prosecutor’s office in Portugal. Your duties will include both administrative tasks and support for relationship-building.

Type of employment: Part-time, 20 hours a week, 1 year contract with the possibility of extension

Main tasks and responsibilities
- Organizing, attending, and serving as interpreter during meetings with Portuguese police, customs, the gendarmerie, and the public prosecutor’s office
- Written and oral translation from English/Danish to Portuguese and vice versa
- Interpreting for Nordic delegations visiting Portugal
- Recording and filing of cases
- Receiving emails and phone calls during and outside normal working hours
- Monitoring the Portuguese media daily and identifying articles of interest to the office
- Actively supporting the development of relationships, including with the police, customs and the public prosecutor’s office in Portugal
- Assisting the Nordic liaison officer with other practical tasks
Qualifications
- Holding a degree in administration or a related field.
- Fluency in Portuguese and either English or Danish.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and either English or Danish.
- The ability to build positive relationships and establish and maintain networks.
- Previous experience in international police cooperation and/or law enforcement is encouraged.

- Your standard working hours will be 20 hours per week. The working time will vary according the needs of the season, and occasionally overtime should be expected.
