New Ambassador to the Embassy

The Embassy of Denmark in Lisbon is happy to introduce the new Ambassador, Lars Faaborg-Andersen, who submitted his credentials to the Portuguese President at a ceremony last week at the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos  and the Belém Palace.

At a beautiful ceremony in front of the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and later at the President’s residence at the Belém Palace, the new Danish Ambassador delivered his Letter of Credence to the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The Ambassador can now in earnest commence the work of further developing and strengthening the already blooming relations between Denmark and Portugal, which he is immensely looking forward to.

Lars Faaborg-Andersen is an experienced diplomat with a strong background in multilateral affairs as well as European and Middle Easten issues. He recently served as EU Ambassador to Israel 2013-2017 and has held ambassadorships in New York and Brussels.

He has a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University from 1982 as well as a Master’s in political science from the University of Copenhagen from 1984.

On behalf of the whole staff, we would like to extend a personal warm welcome to Lars Faaborg-Andersen to beautiful and sunny Portugal and to the Danish Embassy.
