This very special session of Porto/Post/Doc has a partnership with the Festival CPH:DOX (Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival). The movie "1989", by Anders Østergaard, will be shown simultaneously in 15 European cities on the day we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall: thousands of spectators will be watching the same movie at the same time throughout Europe.

There will be a brief presentation at 18:30 the director Porto/Post/Doc Dario Oliveira, followed by the screening of the film at 19h. After the screening of "1989", a discussion of the historical events portrayed in the film with the participation of the protagonist, Miklós Németh, will be transmitted live from Copenhagen. Finally, there will be a broadcast of a debate on the state of Europe today, with the participation of Jeremy Rifkin, Loretta Napoleoni and the previous Danish prime minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen.

"1989" is a documentary by Anders Østergaard that recreates the events of 1989 on the Iron Curtain and invites the viewer to the halls of secret meetings through an innovative mix of 'testimonies', archival material, and the recreation of reconstructed dialogues. The documentary focuses on two characters, representing respectively the macro and micro political structure of the time: Miklós Németh, the young Hungarian prime minister between 1988 and 1990; and Gundula Schafitel, a German woman whose husband died trying to cross the border between Hungary and Austria, later being considered the latest victim of the Cold War.
