The exhibition "Vikings – Warriors from the sea" from the National Museum of Denmark was inaugurated in Lisbon (Belém) at the Museu da Marinha by the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Portuguese Chief of the Navy, the Portuguese Minister of Defence, José Azeredo Lopes and the Danish Ambassador, Michael Suhr.
More than 600 pieces are displayed. Hopes are high for attracting more than 100,000 visitors in the next half year. The Danish Embassy in Lisbon is honoured that Portugal's leading maritime museum host this exhibition.
The stunning display is a remarkable demonstration of Denmark's seafaring heritage discovering the world, and its role alongside Portugal as one of the most prominent maritime nations in European history.
